How to Make Crab Brulee at Home

Indulge in the luxurious flavors of this Crab Brulee Delight. This elegant recipe combines tender cooked crab meat with creamy custard, balanced with a hint of lemon and a sweet caramelized topping. Perfect for a special occasion or as an impressive appetizer.

Preparation Time: 120 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 200g cooked crab meat
  • 100ml heavy cream
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon sugar for topping

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  • Oven
  • Ramekin
  • Whisk
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).
  2. Prepare the Custard Base:
In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked crab meat, heavy cream, egg yolks, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  3. Fill the Ramekin:
Divide the crab mixture evenly into a ramekin.
  4. Create a Water Bath:
Place the ramekin in a baking dish and fill the dish with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the ramekin. This creates a water bath for baking.
  5. Bake the Crab Brulee:
Bake in the preheated oven for about 40-45 minutes or until the edges are set but the center is slightly jiggly.
  6. Cooling and Chilling:
Remove the ramekin from the water bath and let it cool to room temperature. Then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Caramelize the Sugar:
Once chilled, sprinkle the sugar evenly over the top of the brulee. Using a kitchen torch, caramelize the sugar until golden brown and bubbly. If you don’t have a torch, you can place the ramekin under the broiler for about 2-3 minutes, keeping a close eye to prevent burning.
  8. Serve:
Let the brulee sit for a few minutes to allow the sugar to harden before serving.
